Summer Is Here!

Now that the weather has warmed up in Chicago and Alex is thoroughly enjoying going to the park, digging in the sand at the beach and running in and out of Lake Michigan. He has also become an expert at pointing out all the boats and trucks from our apartment windows. If he's not looking for trucks he likes to pretend to talk on the phone. I had a fun time video taping him the other day while he was pretending to talk on the phone. Normally we will hear him say "Oh no" or "Heydoe" (meaning hello) over and over again in his conversations. Which is absolutely hysterical!

Needless to say, it has been pretty entertaining hanging out with him lately. Hope you enjoy the pictures and video!

Florida Fun!

The whole family enjoyed a nice getaway to Siesta Key, FL in March. Alex and I flew down and met my parents there and then John joined us when he was done with class in Atlanta. We had perfect weather and Alex LOVED swimming in the pool everyday. We were very impressed that he was fearless when it came to getting into the water. He would blow bubbles, kick his feet, swim with his arms and even let mom and grandma dunk him under the water.

Our favorite day was when we rented a boat to tour the Intracoastal. We stopped at a small island so Alex could play on the beach and run in the water and on our way home we were greeted by a friendly dolphin who swam up next to our boat.

Such a fun trip!

Morning Glory!

Had to quick grab the camera this morning! The sun was rising and the light was perfect to snap some photos of Alex playing in our bedroom window.

Chicago Blizzard!

It was a sight to see last night from our apartment window. 60mph winds blowing snow sideways by our window. The wind was so strong we could hear our building creak and watched the chandelier sway back and forth. As we stood there looking out the window, we watch drivers returning from work come to a complete standstill on Lake Shore Drive. Water and ice was blowing onto the road from Lake Michigan, buses were stalled, cars ran out of gas, and people just sat in their cars and waited. The news reported this morning that over 400 vehicles were abandoned on Lake Shore Drive last night and some people waited until 4:00am to be rescued from their cars.
So, after feeling a little stir crazy in our apartment we decided to take Alex out to see what 20.2 inches of snow was really like. He wasn't that impressed with the snow...but I think it because he is a little under the weather. It was pretty crazy walking in downtown Chicago with hardly any cars on the streets and snow everywhere!

The strong winds blew out our front door.

Those are bubbles all over the floor. We were both feeling a little nuts after being indoors for two days!

Walking his dog

Alex LOVES dogs. He is so excited every time we see one outside walking. So, his uncle Chris got him a toy dog for Christmas which he thoroughly enjoys walking around the house.

Christmas

We had a very nice Christmas this year with family and friends. It was fun to see what a first Christmas is like for children. Alex was spoiled!! But it was a lot of fun to see him open his new toys.

Hard to believe he will be a year old next week. He's is walking everywhere, says "Uh-oh", "daddy", (haven't heard "mommy" in awhile) and "cheese". He can wave bye-bye and when he smiles he shows off his two bottom teeth and two top teeth. He loves music and singing and thinks it's lots of fun to go swimming with his dad at the pool in our building. He also enjoys listening to books and when he's ready for action loves to be chased around the apartment.

Here is a video of him kicking a cooler around the house. Too funny!!
