We had a 4th of July weekend packed with family fun and the weather couldn't have been more perfect! Saturday we attached the new baby bike seat I bought John for Father's Day so we could all do a bike ride. John heard about these famous turkey legs that they served at the Taste of Chicago so we biked to Grant park to check out the scene. It was very HOT walking through the crowds of people but we located the Turkey leg booth and found a shady place to eat our lunch. That night we headed over to the Feneis's for a backyard BBQ and a farewell party for our close friend Emily. It's always nice to have friends in the city with a backyard and grill!
On Monday we hauled the bikes out again and took a ride North. It was so funny watching people's reactions on the bike path as John and Alex cruised by. We decided to take a break at the park so Alex could run around and I could rest my legs (amazing how tired you get when you haven't biked in years!). Alex was entertaining us at the park by repeating "Dude" while he walked around in his bike helmet and sunglasses. After the park we did a picnic by the lake and stopped by the beach for a quick swim. Then, naps for everyone!
All in all it was a great weekend and John and I both agree that the 4th of July is one of our favorite holidays.
